Scheduling Appointments

Dr. Johnson is available for scheduled appointments Monday through Friday. (Saturdays when necessary). The best time to call our office (570-727-2868) for an appointment is between 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. weekdays, although you may leave a message at any time. Messages are checked at least twice daily. Dr. Johnson is generally available to receive telephone calls from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. weekdays.

Appointments may also be requested by (E-mails are checked every morning.) When requesting a service on-line such as annual physical exam, vaccinations, Coggins tests, teeth floating, sheath cleaning, etc. please use the Appointment Request Form (General) (Word document). If you are a new client requesting services for a group of 5 horses or more, please complete our New Client/Patient Information Form (Word document). Please plan ahead for your routine services. In the busy spring and early summer, we are booking routine appointments two to three weeks out. In order to keep your ambulatory call fee down, our secretary will try to schedule your routine appointment as soon as possible when our doctor is in the general vicinity.

If you are interested in admitting your horse to our clinic, you may print and complete our Clinic Admission Form ahead of time and bring it with the horse. If you will not be arriving with your horse, please print, complete and send the Clinic Admission Form and the Consent to Operation, Procedures or Services Form with your transporter.

In order to take care of your horse's needs on a timely basis and to give you the best instructions to follow before the veterinarian arrives, our secretaries will ask you the questions outlined on the client history forms for the specific problems or situations of colic, illnesses, eye problems, foaling, lumps or swellings, pre-purchase examinations, lameness, and wounds which you may send on-line for non-emergency situations. If you feel that any of the above situations might be an emergency, please treat it as an emergency and follow the instructions given under Emergencies-General Information. Most colics, eye problems, wounds, non-weight-bearing lameness and possible laminitis cases are emergencies!

If you have an urgent need (other than an emergency), our office will call you back the following day to offer you an appointment. Non-urgent requests will be acknowledged the following day and your request will be placed in our scheduling system. You are welcome to call and check the status of your appointment during regular office hours.

  • If any additional service becomes needed, please inform our office prior to the appointment.
  • Please have your horses in the barn and haltered when the veterinarian arrives.
  • Payment is expected at the time of service unless payment arrangements are made in advance. (See the Fees and Payment Options section under Services in the menu bar.)
